The Mauritius Research and Innovation Council (MRIC) (mric.mu), operating under the aegis of the Ministry of Technology, Communication and Innovation is an apex body endeavouring for the promotion and coordination of Government's investment in research and innovation. The MRIC, also provides several part-funding grant schemes aiming at boosting research projects in areas of national priority and encouraging strategic partnerships between academia, public and private institutions. As one of its key focus areas, the MRIC operates the National SME Incubator Scheme which aims at promoting initiation and development of innovative start-ups in Mauritius through a network of Private Sector-led accredited business incubators. The objective of the NSIS is to consolidate the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Mauritius.
